Entrepreneurship Support Organizations (ESOs) are crucial for fostering innovation and economic growth in Massachusetts. These organizations, which span industries such as healthtech, life sciences, and climatetech, connect entrepreneurs, facilitate collaboration, and provide essential resources to help startups thrive. At MFN, we are proud to be part of this dynamic ecosystem, contributing to the success of entrepreneurs.

MFN recently held events in Worcester, Springfield, and Lowell, supported by MassCEC and FedTech, underscoring the significance of these collaborative efforts. We hosted a two-day, multi-city “Convening the Climatetech Community” event, which brought together founders from across Massachusetts to expand their networks, gain feedback, and connect with potential funders, including venture capitalists.

Guest speakers included Leslie Nash, Program Director at MassCEC in Lowell;  Zachary Dutton, Executive Director of Venture Forum in Worcester; and Marianna Miller, Program Administrator at MassCEC in Springfield.

“So far at these statewide events in the Massachusetts startup ecosystem, I have been fortunate to look around the room and see almost total engagement from the attendees. I see them socializing, collaborating, and talking to investors. For these reasons, I firmly believe the Massachusetts startup ecosystem is robust and has a bright future,” said MFN teammate Natalia Giacomozzi.

MFN has also convened some of the top Venture Capital firms in Western Massachusetts for a panel discussion in Holyoke this summer.

Events like these allow founders to share ideas, receive constructive feedback, and establish relationships that could propel their ventures to the next level—without, for example, the pressure of a large conference. The exchange of ideas and resources not only benefits individual entrepreneurs but also strengthens the overall innovation ecosystem in the region.

By working together, ESOs can pool resources and expertise to create comprehensive support systems that tackle common pain points faced by founders head-on, such as access to funding, mentorship, and market insights. In coordinating efforts, ESOs can help entrepreneurs navigate complex regulatory environments, identify market opportunities, and refine their business strategies.

MFN is committed to adapting our programs and events to meet the evolving needs of startups. We are excited to continue fostering collaborations that drive innovation and support entrepreneurs. By partnering with organizations like MassCEC and FedTech, we aim to create even more opportunities for entrepreneurs to thrive.

Going forward, MFN events will focus on expanding access to resources, enhancing mentorship opportunities, and building stronger connections within the statewide startup community. We believe that by uniting our efforts, we can remove barriers that hinder the growth of startups and empower founders to focus on their core innovations.

Founders are everywhere, but resources aren’t.

That’s a shame, because the next big idea could come from anywhere.

The Massachusetts Founder Network aims to bridge the gap, giving startup founders equitable access to resources that will help their companies grow.

We support MA founders no matter where they come from, their company’s stage, or their business sector. We want to democratize access to the resources that will help them accelerate—and excel. All founders are welcome to find resources and community at MFN while creating connections, expanding their networks, and learning from one another.

About MFN

The Massachusetts Founders Network is a central hub for all things startups, fostering innovation and collaboration across the state. MFN offers valuable networking, resources, mentorship, and community for startup founders in Massachusetts.

MFN is produced by Lever, a startup accelerator based in North Adams. Our work is supported by funding from and collaboration with the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, based in Westborough.

We’ve been advising and connecting with entrepreneurs for years, and we’re using that knowledge and network to launch something new, with the help of an advisory board of successful founders and major players in the startup ecosystem.

We plan to launch the Massachusetts Founders Network in summer 2023. Sign up for our newsletter to get alerts about our launch, new features, and MFN events!
